DERMADYN
DERMADYN IVD kit offers a highly sensitive, rapid and easy to perform method to detect dermatophytes infections using molecular methods based on real time PCR (polymerase chain reaction) technology.
What are Dermatophytes?
Dermatophytes are keratinolytic fungi responsible for dermatophytosis, also known as ringworm, the most common cause of tinea, a large variety of diseases that can affect the skin, nails and hair. Different types of dermatophytes can be found in 85% of the infected population.
Why DERMADYN?
The common approach to dermatophytes diagnosis performed by subjective mycological analysis based on direct microscopic examination and cultures, a time-consuming process and with limited sensitivity. Culturing long Turn Around Time (TAT) of up to 4 weeks can result in unnecessary dermatophytes systemic treatment, with possible adverse events associated with liver failure or damage, gastrointestinal problems, central nervous system problems and other side effects. Moreover, dermatophytes infections have been largely under reported due to the difficulty of isolating and culturing the organisms. This difficulty means that molecular testing is the best practical method to reliably identify the fungi. DERMADYN provides a real time PCR based multiplex application for fast, reliable, ready to use and high throughput IVD of dermatophytes. Within 3 hours, the kit can detect 7 types of the most common dermatophytes to be found: Trichophyton rubrum complex, Microsporum gypseum, Microsporum canis, Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex, Trichophyton tonsurans, Trichophyton violaceum.
